Prophet Sam Olu-Alo Urges Osun Voters to Vote With Conscience

Ahead of the August 15 governorship election in Osun State, Prophet Sam Olu-Alo has urged voters to choose candidates based on their competence, character and plans for the state.

The Planter of Christ Apostolic Church Adamimogo, Grace Of Mercy Prayer Mountain Worldwide, gave the advice during the church’s annual prayer and fasting programme in Lagos. PUNCH Online reported the development in a statement made available on Monday.

Olu-Alo warned voters against allowing financial inducements to determine their choices at the polls. He said voters should examine the records and programmes of candidates before deciding who deserves their support.

He stressed that voters must consider the long-term effect of their decisions. He said responsible choices at the ballot box could influence governance and development across the state.

“Think carefully and vote for the person you believe can move the state forward. Do not exchange your conscience for money,” Olu-Alo said.

He warned that politicians who spend heavily to secure votes could seek to recover their money through public funds after taking office. He linked the practice to poor governance and the country’s slow development.

Olu-Alo also advised voters against allowing anger or bitterness to influence their decisions. He said the candidate who demonstrates the capacity to serve should receive their support.

The cleric extended his advice to Nigerians who would participate in future elections. He urged citizens to make informed choices rather than follow political sentiments.

He also cautioned youths against allowing politicians to recruit them for electoral violence. Olu-Alo said young people often bear the consequences while those who sponsor violence keep their families away from danger.

“Do not allow anyone to put your life at risk for political interests. Protect your future and protect your vote,” he said.

The cleric also spoke about the church’s empowerment programme for disadvantaged people. He said the initiative aims to help beneficiaries develop skills and become economically independent.

According to him, participants receive training in areas such as digital marketing, tailoring and Adire production. He expressed satisfaction with the number of people who had enrolled in the programmes.

PUNCH Online reports that Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party is seeking another term in the August 15, 2026 Osun governorship election. His major challenger is the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji.
