Prophet El-Buba Says Nigeria Belongs to All, Christians Are Not Infidels
The General Overseer of El-Buba Outreach Ministries, Prophet Isa El-Buba, has criticised Islamic cleric, Sheikh Yahya Jingir, over his reported comments about Christians and support for a Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket.
Jingir reportedly said in a video circulating on social media that Nigerians opposed to a Muslim-Muslim ticket should leave the country. He also reportedly referred to Christians as “infidels” while defending his position.
Reacting to the remarks, El-Buba said religious leaders should promote peace rather than deepen divisions. He spoke in a video shared on his X account on Monday.
The cleric said he addressed the issue with concern over the growing security and economic challenges facing northern Nigeria. He argued that leaders should focus on helping communities overcome their difficulties.
El-Buba said he had supported thousands of Muslims across northern Nigeria despite having no personal relationship with many of them. He noted that his assistance had covered education, household needs and other forms of support.

According to him, such interventions demonstrate the need for Nigerians of different faiths to support one another. He also questioned the consequences of Christians adopting similar language against Muslims.
El-Buba criticised the reported use of the word “infidels” against Christians. He argued that religious differences should not become a reason to question the citizenship or rights of other Nigerians.
He also challenged northern leaders to address poverty, banditry, criminality and drug abuse in the region. He said religious leaders should use their influence to help communities find solutions to these problems.
The cleric urged religious leaders to preach messages that can help people escape insecurity and hardship. He said such leaders have a responsibility to promote peace and strengthen communities.

El-Buba further accused Jingir of making statements that could provoke Christians. He called on Muslims who disagree with such comments to speak out and reject rhetoric capable of creating division.
He also criticised the Kano State Government over what he described as its handling of the controversy. He maintained that political and religious leaders should uphold fairness and justice in their dealings with citizens.
The general overseer stressed that Nigeria belongs to everyone, regardless of religious affiliation. He said the country’s unity should remain greater than individual or religious interests.
El-Buba’s comments come amid renewed debates over religious representation and the possibility of a Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections.
