MFM Choir Wins Gold at World Choir Games in Sweden
The General Overseer of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM), Dr Daniel Olukoya, has congratulated the Mountain Top Chorale after the Nigerian choir won the Spiritual category at the 14th World Choir Games in Helsingborg, Sweden.
The choir emerged champion in Category C14 – Spiritual during the Champions Competition. Conductor Oluwasegun Okedunmola led the group.
According to PUNCH Online, the 2026 competition features nine categories, bringing together choirs from different parts of the world.
Interkultur, the event’s host organisation, announced the first champions during an awards ceremony in Helsingborg on Monday.
The World Choir Games runs from August 6 to 16. This year’s edition has turned Helsingborg into a major international gathering for choral music.
About 8,500 singers from more than 40 countries are participating in the event, according to Interkultur. More than 160 choirs are also competing and performing at various concerts.
The competition is being held in Sweden for the first time.

Olukoya celebrated the Nigerian choir in a Facebook post following the announcement. He described the victory as a significant moment for MFM and Nigeria.
The choir secured a gold medal in the Spiritual category after scoring 87.38 points. It also claimed the championship title in the Champions Competition.
Olukoya said the double achievement reflected the choir’s commitment to excellence and dedication.
The MFM leader praised the choristers, Okedunmola, the choir’s leadership and everyone who contributed to the performance. He said the success went beyond winning a musical competition. The achievement, according to him, reflected discipline, teamwork and the use of talent to glorify God.
The victory has further placed Mountain Top Chorale on the international choral music scene. It also gives Nigeria another opportunity to showcase its musical and gospel heritage at a major global platform.
The World Choir Games remains one of the largest international competitions for choirs. It brings together groups from different countries to compete, perform and celebrate choral music.
