Primate Ayodele Warns Christianity Is at Risk Over Jingir Comment
The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has criticised the Federal Government over its response to recent remarks attributed to Islamic cleric Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir.
Ayodele called for Jingir’s arrest, arguing that authorities should act against religious statements that could create tension among Nigerians.
The cleric spoke in a video shared on social media while reacting to remarks attributed to Jingir concerning the Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket.
Jingir was reportedly heard saying that Nigerians who opposed a Muslim-Muslim ticket should leave the country. He was also reported to have referred to Christians as “infidels” in the video.
Reacting to the controversy, Ayodele alleged that the government would have responded more quickly if a Christian cleric had made similar comments.

He made the remarks in a video posted by Tunde Ednut. Ayodele warned that failure to address the issue could create further concerns for Christians in Nigeria.
“If the government does not caution this, then Christianity is in trouble in Nigeria,” Ayodele said.
He also called on the Bola Tinubu administration to caution Jingir and other religious leaders against statements capable of worsening religious tensions.
Ayodele argued that religious leaders should exercise restraint when addressing sensitive political and religious issues. He said inflammatory comments could damage peaceful coexistence among Nigerians.
He further warned that ignoring such remarks could weaken national unity. According to him, government authorities should act when public statements threaten to deepen religious divisions.
