DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE

DATE: Wednesday, 22nd April, 2026

TOPIC: THE REWARD OF COMPLETION

MEMORISE

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith (2 Timothy 4:7).

READ:

2 Timothy 4:7-8

[7]. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.

[8]. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.

EXPOSITION

Paul’s perseverance through trials and challenges earned him a reward: the crown of righteousness. Paul confidently declared that he had fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith, knowing a crown awaited him. Similarly, an athlete endures intense training and discipline to win a prize, fully focused on the reward.

God calls believers to endure life’s difficulties with faith, trusting Him to bring us through every situation. The process may be tough, involving sacrifice, patience, and unwavering commitment to God’s Word. However, we can remain encouraged because the eternal reward God has promised is far greater than any earthly achievement.

The journey shapes us, building character and preparing us for the ultimate purpose God has for our lives. Every trial, no matter how challenging, contributes to our spiritual growth. The product — the fulfilment of God’s purpose and the promise of eternal life — is worth every step of the process. Let us press on, keeping our eyes on the crown of righteousness, which the Lord has prepared for all who love Him.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Lord, help me to remain faithful and endure the process, knowing the reward is worth it.

2. Father, strengthen me to finish the race You have set before me.

3. Pray for more of God’s power and presence in CAC Latunde Region, in the life of our father, the Regional Superintendent, other officers and members at various levels, in Jesus’ name.

PREVIOUS DEVOTIONAL

SUGGESTED HYMN FOR TODAY:

CACGHB: 298

1. “‘Tis finish’d!” so the Saviour cried,

And meekly bowed His head and died;

‘Tis finished!” –yes, the race is run,

The battle fought, the vic’ry won.

2. “It is finished!” was His death cry

That makes atonement for all sins

Many souls will find salvation

Cause He poured out His soul in death

3. “‘Tis finished!” Heav’n is reconciled,

And all the pow’rs of darkness spoiled;

Peace, love, and happiness again

Return, and dwell with sinful men.

4. ‘Tis finished!” let the joyful sound

Be heard through all the nations round;

‘Tis finished!” let the echo fly through heav’n and hell,

through earth and sky.

Amen.
