Being Born Again Means Becoming a New Creation-Bishop Oyedepo Jnr
Bishop David Oyedepo Jnr has explained that being born again goes beyond improving one’s former life.
He said the new birth gives believers a new spiritual identity through Christ.
Oyedepo Jnr made the point while explaining the meaning of the Christian concept of being born again. He referenced 2 Corinthians 5:17, which describes believers as new creations in Christ.
“When you are born again, you are not just a new version of your former self. By redemption, you are described as a new creature,” he said.
The cleric also cited John 3:6, explaining that physical birth comes through the flesh, while spiritual birth comes through the Spirit.
He said the new birth also gives believers a new capacity to think and understand spiritual matters.

Citing 1 Corinthians 2:16, Oyedepo Jnr said Christians have what Scripture describes as “the mind of Christ.”
“Every born-again child of God has a new mental capacity,” he said.
He linked this capacity to Christ, whom 1 Corinthians 1:24 describes as the wisdom and power of God.
According to Oyedepo Jnr, Christians should therefore approach life with an understanding of their new spiritual identity rather than remain bound to their former way of thinking.
He said believers should grow in the wisdom that comes from God and reflect it in their daily lives.
“Only those who are born of divine wisdom can manifest divine wisdom,” he said.
