Apostle Suleman Says Sin Does Not Make Believers Unbelievers
Apostle Johnson Suleman has offered his perspective on the Christian debate over sin, grace and salvation, saying a believer who falls into sin should not automatically be regarded as an unbeliever.
Suleman addressed the issue during a teaching session while examining different views on whether a born-again Christian can lose salvation.
He noted that some Christians believe salvation can be lost, while others hold that genuine salvation remains secure regardless of a believer’s actions. The cleric said both positions require careful biblical understanding.
According to him, Christians should not rely on teachings that distort biblical truth simply to discourage people from sinning. He argued that fear based on falsehood does not provide a sound foundation for Christian living.
Suleman said committing sin does not, by itself, prove that a believer has lost salvation. He referred to the church in Corinth, where Paul confronted serious misconduct among believers.
He explained that Paul described the Corinthians as carnal because of their behaviour rather than simply classifying them as unbelievers. Suleman used the account to support his position on the relationship between sin and salvation.

The apostle also referred to 1 John 2:1 in discussing how Christians should respond when they fall into sin. He connected the passage with the need for believers to recognise and deal with wrongdoing rather than treat grace as a licence to continue in it.
Suleman also cited Titus 2:11–12 in explaining the purpose of grace. He said grace not only brings salvation but also teaches Christians to reject ungodliness and worldly desires.
He therefore warned against an interpretation of grace that encourages deliberate sinful living. Suleman maintained that genuine understanding of grace should influence a believer’s behaviour and encourage a life that reflects righteousness.
His comments come amid a longstanding theological debate among Christians over salvation, grace and perseverance. Different Christian traditions interpret these subjects in different ways.
Suleman’s position emphasises the distinction between a believer falling into sin and the broader question of whether that person has ceased to be a believer. He urged Christians to approach the subject through proper biblical understanding rather than assumptions.
