Pastor Adeboye Urges Legal Practitioner to Rely on Jesus

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has urged Nigerians, particularly judges and lawyers, to look to Jesus Christ for wisdom and guidance in difficult times.

Adeboye gave the advice during the RCCG’s monthly thanksgiving service in Lagos, which focused on the theme, “Wonderful Counsellor.” The service featured special prayers for members of the Bench and Bar, as well as their families.

Adeboye said legal professionals are trained to advise and defend people facing difficult situations. However, he noted that no human counsellor or advocate compares with Jesus Christ.

According to the RCCG leader, Jesus represents divine wisdom and possesses the power to overcome situations beyond human understanding.

He described a counsellor as someone who offers guidance during challenging circumstances and applies wisdom to finding solutions.

Adeboye cited several biblical accounts to illustrate what he described as Christ’s authority over natural and human limitations. He referenced Jesus walking on water and raising Lazarus after four days in the tomb.

The cleric also described Christ as an advocate who intercedes for believers before God.

Adeboye noted that Scripture identifies Jesus by several names, including the Son of God, Son of Man, Lamb of God, Resurrection and Life, the Way, Truth and Life, Mighty God, Everlasting Father and Prince of Peace.

He said the descriptions of Christ as an advocate and counsellor carry particular significance in the present circumstances.

Also speaking, the Special Assistant to the RCCG General Overseer on Administration and Pastor in charge of Region 1, Dele Balogun, stressed the importance of wisdom and courage in the legal profession.

Balogun urged lawyers, particularly those at the beginning of their careers, to remain committed to their profession.

He advised young lawyers to prioritise diligence and professional growth rather than making financial gain their primary objective.

The Chief Judge of Ogun State, Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu, also attended the thanksgiving service.

Dipeolu said women had moved beyond the era when they were expected to play secondary roles in leadership.

She noted that female judges now occupy key judicial positions in several states.

The Ogun Chief Judge encouraged female judges to remain conscious of the role of divine grace in their careers.

Dipeolu also urged her colleagues to seek God’s wisdom and guidance as the country approaches the 2027 general elections.

She said their positions should serve as a reminder of the responsibility entrusted to them and the need to rely on God for wisdom in carrying out their duties.
