Romans 12:11
[11]. not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord;
Nehemiah 2:3
[3]. and said to the king, “May the king live forever! Why should my face not be sad, when the city, the place of my fathers’ tombs, lies waste, and its gates are burned with fire?”
EXPOSITION
We continue from where we stopped in yesterday’s dose of the Living Water Nehemiah’s burden for Jerusalem illustrates a believer’s responsibility for God’s work. The city was in ruins, yet he did not sit idly by. Mobilising people and resources, Nehemiah rebuilt the walls despite challenges. Today, God calls us to take responsibility for His Kingdom.
Many Christians neglect their roles, claiming indifference toward the Church’s issues. Christianity demands active participation in preserving and strengthening God’s Kingdom. Like Nehemiah, do not allow apathy to hinder your service. Instead, commit to rebuilding and advancing God’s work.
PREVIOUS DEVOTIONAL
Reflect on your actions. Are you contributing to the progress of the Gospel or standing idle? Do not wait for your church to become incapable of sustaining herself. Do not wait for your pastors to keep calling for people to meet obvious needs in the Church, so much that announcement becomes annoyance before reluctantly responding. Be proactive, offering time, talent and other God-given resources for God’s purpose. The Church faces challenges, but faithful believers faithfully ensure her survival. Your commitment to God’s work honours Him and impacts eternity. Like Nehemiah, work diligently and leave a legacy of faithfulness.
PRAYER POINTS
[1]. Lord, help me to passionately serve Your Kingdom with my gifts and talents.
[2]. Father, strengthen believers worldwide to persevere in their calling.
[3]. Pray for CAC Babalola Memorial International Miracle Camp, the Camp Coordinator, manager and other staff as led by God’s Spirit.
SUGGESTED HYMN FOR TODAY:

12 12 12 & Ref
1. To the work, to the work! we are servants of God;
Let us follow the path that our
Master has trod;
With the balm of His counsel our strength to renew;
Let us do with our might what our hands find to do;
Chorus:
Toiling on, toiling on,
Toiling on, toiling on,
Let us hope, let us watch,
And labour till the Master comes.
2. To the work, to the work! let the hungry be fed,
To the fountain of life let the weary be led;
In the cross and its banner our glory shall be;
While we herald the tidings, salvation is free;
3. To the work, to the work! there is labour for all,
For the kingdom of darkness and error shall fall;
And the name of Jehovah exalted shall be
In the loud-swelling chorus,
Salvation is free.
4. To the work, to the work in the strength of the Lord,
And a robe and a crown shall our labour reward;
When the home of the faithful our dwelling shall be,
And we shout with the ransomed,
“Salvation is free.”
Amen.
