What Oyedepo Told Kidnappers During Pastor Abduction

Bishop David Oyedepo, founder of Living Faith Church, has shared how a pastor of the ministry regained freedom after being abducted, following a direct phone conversation he had with the kidnappers.

The incident, which comes amid persistent security concerns in Nigeria, was recounted during a church service and later circulated widely in a viral video. According to Oyedepo, the abductors had initially contacted the church to demand ransom after taking the pastor.

He explained that he personally took over the call and issued a firm warning, giving the kidnappers a 24-hour deadline to release the victim. Oyedepo stated that the situation shifted immediately after the exchange, leading to the pastor’s release.

Recounting the moment, he said he told the abductors that failure to free the pastor within the stated time would have serious consequences. He added that shortly after the call, there was a noticeable change in the atmosphere around the captors, and the pastor was released without delay.

Oyedepo also encouraged members of the church to provide his phone number to abductors if they ever find themselves in similar situations, expressing confidence in the outcome of such interventions.

In addition, he narrated a separate case involving a female church member who was kidnapped but later freed. According to him, the woman declared her release while still in captivity, stating the exact time she would regain freedom. He said the kidnappers reportedly reacted unusually following her declaration, after which she was released.
