Tragedy at Jigawa Wedding as Bride Allegedly Poisons Guests
A wedding celebration in the Jahun Local Government Area of Jigawa State ended in tragedy after the bride allegedly poisoned food served to guests at the reception. The incident reportedly left the groom in critical condition and claimed the life of one guest, while several others were hospitalised.
Eyewitness accounts suggest that the bride’s actions may have been motivated by a personal grievance. The situation escalated when attendees who consumed the tainted food began exhibiting symptoms of poisoning. Local sources reported the incident to authorities, prompting a swift police response.
The spokesperson for the Jigawa State Police, Shi’isu Adam, confirmed the occurrence and disclosed that two suspects, including the bride and another woman, had been apprehended. Both individuals are currently being interrogated by the Criminal Investigation Department to uncover the motive and circumstances surrounding the act.
“We received information about food poisoning at a wedding reception that left the groom critically ill,” Adam stated. “The police have arrested two suspects in connection with the case, and investigations are ongoing to ensure justice is served.”
While most of the affected guests have been treated and discharged from the hospital, one individual tragically lost their life. The identities of the deceased, the groom, and other victims have not been made public by the authorities.
The police spokesperson urged the public to remain calm as efforts to resolve the case continue. “We are committed to uncovering the truth and ensuring that those responsible are held accountable,” Adam assured. “More details will be released as the investigation progresses.”
