Pastor Evelyn Joshua Calls Nigerians Back to Moral Values
Pastor Evelyn Joshua, leader of The Synagogue, Church of All Nations (SCOAN), has called on Christians and society to embrace moral values, saying integrity, compassion and righteous living remain essential for lasting peace and national transformation. According to The Guardian, she said the world’s growing crises point to a deeper spiritual and moral challenge.
She delivered the message during the 2026 Living Water Service at SCOAN’s headquarters in Lagos. Thousands of worshippers from Africa, Europe, Asia and the Americas attended the annual gathering for worship, prayer and spiritual renewal.
Pastor Evelyn Joshua preached on the theme “Standing by the Power of the Cross,” drawing her message from 1 Corinthians 1:18–20. She said economic progress and technological advancement alone cannot solve humanity’s deepest problems without a return to godly values.
She encouraged believers to reflect Christ in both words and actions. She said every aspect of life should honour God and demonstrate His character.
“Taking the name of Jesus into your daily life means speaking and acting in ways that reflect His character. Whatever you do, do it in His name with thanksgiving to God,” she said.

Pastor Evelyn Joshua described the Bible as God’s enduring message of love and hope. She said Scripture continues to provide wisdom and direction for people facing uncertainty.
She reminded worshippers that the cross offers lasting hope. She said God’s invitation to salvation remains open to everyone who believes.
“The way into God’s Kingdom has already been made clear through the power of the Cross. The Cross stands above every fear,” she said.
Pastor Evelyn Joshua observed that many people continue to battle fear, rejection and a lack of purpose despite material success. She said lasting fulfilment comes from a personal relationship with God rather than temporary achievements.
She assured believers that their identity and security rest in Christ. She added that those who belong to God receive acceptance that cannot be taken away.

She said genuine peace begins with knowing God. She explained that His presence brings love, direction and a renewed sense of purpose.
Pastor Evelyn Joshua also challenged Christians to examine their own lives instead of focusing on the faults of others. She urged them to confront attitudes such as bitterness, pride, envy and anger through God’s Word.
She encouraged believers to remain faithful during difficult seasons. She said trials often reveal spiritual maturity and strengthen genuine faith.
The 2026 Living Water Service concluded with prayers, testimonies and worship as participants sought spiritual renewal. Pastor Evelyn Joshua also urged believers to become examples of integrity and compassion, saying transformed lives remain the foundation for stronger families, healthier communities and a more peaceful society.
