Pastor Adeboye clarifies that RCCG is Not an APC Church

According To PM News NIGERIA,RCCG General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has rejected claims suggesting that the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) is affiliated with any political party, including the All Progressives Congress (APC), stating that the church remains non-partisan.

He made the clarification during the church’s Holy Ghost Service themed “Excellent Counsel,” where he responded to public perceptions linking RCCG to political interests. Adeboye said the church is made up of members from different political parties and backgrounds, stressing that this diversity makes it impossible for RCCG to belong to any single political group.

He explained that politicians and public office holders across various parties worship within the church, noting that this reflects its national and inclusive nature.

According to him, “Some people are saying RCCG is an APC church. I just smile. In RCCG, you will find a governor from the Peoples Democratic Party sitting with a governor from the Labour Party, APC, and APGA. By God’s help, we represent the whole nation, and we will continue like that.”

He stated that RCCG does not provide a platform for political statements or speeches during its services, regardless of the status of attendees. Adeboye added that church program are strictly focused on worship, prayer, and spiritual activities, not political expression or campaigns.

He noted that even when governors or other political leaders attend services, they are not invited to speak from the altar. “If you see a governor among us dancing, and you expect he will be called to speak, we don’t do that. But anyone is welcome to worship with us. Our responsibility is to pray for everyone,” he said.

The cleric also spoke on Nigeria’s leadership and political direction, saying that ultimate authority over who governs is already established in divine order. He said that God is aware of the end from the beginning and urged citizens to remain prayerful while carrying out their civic duties responsibly.

Adeboye further clarified his personal role within the Christian community, stating that he does not see himself as the spiritual head of all Christians in Nigeria .He explained that his responsibility is limited to RCCG, which he described as his assigned duty and one he is fully committed to.

According to him, he is content being recognized only as the father of RCCG, while broader Christian leadership in Nigeria is handled through established Christian bodies.

He also referenced past civic involvement, explaining that his participation in national protests or public actions was based on directives from the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).

Adeboye said he acts in line with collective Christian leadership decisions on national issues affecting believers, not personal political interests. He added that if CAN calls for peaceful protest in the future, he would take part, emphasizing that his actions are guided by principle rather than politics.
