Heirs Life Names Pastor Jerry Eze Independent Non Executive Director
Pastor Jerry Eze, founder and lead pastor of Streams of Joy International Ministry, has joined the board of Heirs Life Assurance as an Independent Non-Executive Director.
The life insurance company announced his appointment on Monday, August 10, 2026. Heirs Life Assurance described the move as part of its efforts to increase public confidence in insurance and expand financial inclusion across Nigeria.
According to PUNCH Online, the company said Eze’s experience in community engagement and value-driven leadership would support its efforts to improve insurance awareness and strengthen long-term financial security for Nigerians.
The insurer said fewer than one per cent of Nigerians currently have insurance coverage. It said the low rate highlights the need for stronger consumer education and wider access to financial protection.
Eze also convenes the New Season Prophetic Prayers and Declaration platform, popularly known as NSPPD. The platform reaches millions of people through its digital prayer programmes.

Beyond his pastoral work, he founded the Jerry Eze Foundation. Through the foundation, he has supported vulnerable communities with housing assistance and financial grants.
In 2026, Eze announced a N1bn grant programme for young entrepreneurs in agriculture, technology and manufacturing. The initiative aims to support business growth and create more economic opportunities.
Before becoming a full-time pastor, Eze built experience in development communications. He worked as a communications specialist on a World Bank HIV/AIDS project and later served with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
Eze studied History and International Relations at Abia State University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree. He also obtained a postgraduate degree in Business Administration from Enugu State University of Science and Technology.
Commenting on the appointment, Chairman of Heirs Life Assurance, Tony Elumelu, said Eze brings integrity, influence and a strong understanding of communities to the board.

Elumelu said his experience would help the company strengthen consumer trust and widen access to insurance. He added that Eze would contribute to efforts aimed at protecting the financial future of Nigerians.
Eze described the appointment as an honour and said he looked forward to contributing to the company’s mission. He said stronger financial protection would help Nigerians, families and businesses pursue their plans with greater confidence.
The cleric added that he would work with the board and management to make insurance more accessible and relevant to Nigerians.
