Anambra govt clamps down on fake pastors

According to Vanguard, Charles Soludo has defended the ongoing clampdown on individuals accused of using religion to deceive people in Anambra State.

The governor spoke during a church gathering held at St. Patrick’s Cathedral as members of the Catholic Diocese of Awka marked their All Knights Day celebration.

Addressing the congregation, Soludo said the state government decided to take stronger action after concerns grew over cases of exploitation disguised as spiritual work. He explained that the aim is to protect residents and encourage a healthier social environment.

He disclosed that security agencies had already picked up some suspects connected to the activities under investigation. According to him, authorities are still gathering information as the process continues.

The governor stated that his administration wants to promote honesty, responsibility and public trust across communities. He stressed that any activity capable of misleading struggling residents should not be ignored.

Speaking further, Soludo referred to the state burial policy as one of the reforms helping families avoid unnecessary financial burdens. He said many communities are gradually embracing simpler funeral ceremonies instead of expensive celebrations.

The governor also approved support for charity outreach organized by the Knights, especially visits to orphanages and vulnerable homes. He urged them to continue showing compassion and service to humanity.

In a message delivered at the programmed, Paulinus Ezeokafor urged the Knights to remain disciplined and dedicated to service. The address was presented by Evaristus Iheanacho on behalf of the bishop.

The cleric encouraged members to avoid pride and stay connected to ordinary people. He also reminded them to continue promoting truth and good values in society.
