Pastor Adeboye Encourages Students, Lecturers to Excel
According to Punch, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has encouraged lecturers, professors, students and other education professionals to pursue excellence through diligence, compassion and obedience to God.
He delivered the message virtually during the RCCG July 2026 Thanksgiving Service from the Mount Carmel Prayer Village, Ifewara, Osun State. He preached on the theme, “Above Only,” and based his message on Deuteronomy 28:1-13. He said God’s desire is for His children to become the head and not the tail.
He challenged believers to make the right choice in life, asking, “Do you want to be above or do you want to be beneath? Do you want to be the head, or do you want to be the tail?”
He encouraged students to embrace lifelong learning. He said education is a continuous journey and that every stage prepares people for greater opportunities and responsibilities.
“Those of you who are students, remember that there is never an end to learning—you must keep on learning. He said anyone who remains at the same level year after year has stopped making progress and should pursue continuous growth.

He also reminded them that sustaining success requires greater commitment than achieving it. “It takes more effort to remain a champion than to become a champion,” he added.
According to Punch, Adeboye also addressed teachers, lecturers, professors and other education professionals. He encouraged them to set the right example, pursue excellence consistently and keep improving, noting that their lives shape the future of many young people.
“You must keep climbing,” he said. “It doesn’t matter how high you are now; you must keep climbing.”
He further encouraged everyone in the education sector to show mercy and compassion. He said those seeking God’s promotion should extend kindness to others and use every opportunity to lead people to Christ.
“You want to obtain mercy from God for your promotion, then you must be merciful. You want to remain on top all the way, then you must learn to show mercy unto others,” he said.

He concluded by urging students and education workers to remain thankful to God, saying gratitude is one of the secrets to lasting success. “ He said those who desire lasting success should cultivate a lifestyle of constant praise and thanksgiving to God. He also prayed, “I believe in God for you: You will be above permanently. You will never come beneath again.”
Punch reported that the Special Assistant to the General Overseer (Administration) and Pastor in Charge of RCCG Region 1, Pastor Oladele Balogun, advised students to remain disciplined, stay committed to their studies and pursue personal development while trusting God for success. He also urged parents to pay closer attention to the welfare and safety of their children, especially those in boarding schools. He encouraged them to assess the security of their children’s learning environment regularly and relocate them where necessary.
