OPM Offers Returnees Free Housing, Skills Training
According to Tribune Online, the General Overseer of Omega Power Ministries (OPM), Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere, has unveiled a new support package for Nigerians returning from South Africa. The initiative offers free accommodation and vocational training to help them rebuild their lives.
He announced the programme in a statement on his verified social media platforms. He said another group of Nigerian returnees had arrived from South Africa. He also assured them of the church’s commitment to helping them resettle.
He explained that married returnees without homes in Nigeria would receive free accommodation in one of the church’s housing estates. He said OPM acquired the estate to support indigent families with no place to live.
“The OPM estate is 100 per cent free of charge,” he said. He added that the ministry now operates 18 free housing estates for vulnerable Nigerians unable to afford rent.
The cleric also announced the deployment of a bus branded “South African Returnees” to convey eligible beneficiaries from the airport. Upon arrival, officials will document them before taking them to the designated housing estate.
While addressing feeding arrangements, he appealed for understanding. He explained that the church was finalising discussions with a new catering provider before extending meal support to the beneficiaries.

“Please don’t be angry. We have not finalised arrangements with a caterer, so you will provide your own meals until next week,” he said. He also announced free admission for single male returnees into the OPM Free School of Skills, where they would receive vocational training for employment or self-reliance.
He said many returnees lost their businesses, jobs and livelihoods in South Africa, prompting the church to support them as they rebuild their lives in Nigeria.
He explained that OPM funds the training through members’ tithes and offerings, with participants choosing from over 20 courses, including welding, ICT, marine engineering, tailoring, catering, hairdressing and oil rig operations.
He added that trainees would graduate with internationally recognised certificates at no cost, while the church would also help them secure jobs in Nigeria and abroad, especially in the oil and gas industry.

He disclosed that OPM had already helped several members secure jobs with oil companies in Saudi Arabia. He added that another recruitment exercise for employment opportunities in the Middle East was already in the pipeline.
The cleric said the intervention goes beyond housing and skills acquisition. He explained that the church had already enrolled the children of the returnees in one of its 43 free schools, supported their wives with business opportunities and provided medical care through its free hospital.
“It would be balanced if the men are also settled so they don’t go into crime because an idle man is the devil’s workshop,” he said.
He reaffirmed that the housing scheme, free education, healthcare services and vocational training remain fully sponsored through tithes and offerings contributed by members of Omega Power Ministries.
