TACN Calls Pastors to Lead Like Christ
ABEOKUTA Church leaders have been urged to reflect the true nature of Christ in their service. They must lead with humility, care, and sacrifice, rather than personal ambition.
This message came during the induction of Pastor Samuel Osuntayo as the 10th Area Superintendent of The Apostolic Church Nigeria, Igbein Area. The event also marked the launch of his book, Strategic Leadership in Pastoral Ministry.
Speaking at the service, the LAWMA Territorial Chairman, Pastor Gabriel Okpako Uyeh, called on ministers to follow the example of the Chief Shepherd. He stressed that leadership in the church is not about status or power. Instead, it is about serving people with sincerity and love.
He warned against pride, greed, and self centered leadership. According to him, a true pastor must care deeply for the flock and guide them in the right path. He added that strength in ministry comes from total dependence on God.

Furthermore, he described the induction as a deep bond between the pastor and the congregation. He explained that the new leader must protect, guide, and provide for the people under his care. If a leader fails in these duties, he said, such a person cannot be seen as a true shepherd.
He also encouraged members of the church to support their new superintendent. He urged them to see him as a blessing and work with him in unity.
In his response, Pastor Samuel Osuntayo expressed gratitude and a strong sense of responsibility. He explained that his book aims to strengthen pastoral leadership through practical insights gained from years of ministry work.
Many church leaders and guests at the event praised the book. They described it as timely and helpful for both new and experienced ministers.
Overall, the event served as a reminder that true leadership in the church begins with a humble heart and a willingness to serve others.
