TOPIC: THE URGENCY OF THE MOMENT
MEMORISE
For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ, and will deceive many (Matthew 24:5).
READ: 3 John 7-12
[7]. Because they went forth for His name’s sake, taking nothing from the Gentiles.
[8]. We therefore ought to receive such, that we may become fellow workers for the truth.
[9]. I wrote to the church, but Diotrephes, who loves to have the preeminence among them, does not receive us.
[10]. Therefore, if I come, I will call to mind his deeds which he does, prating against us with malicious words. And not content with that, he himself does not receive the brethren, and forbids those who wish to, putting them out of the church.
[11]. Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. He who does good is of God, but he who does evil has not seen God.
[12]. Demetrius has a good testimony from all, and from the truth itself. And we also bear witness, and you know that our testimony is true.
EXPOSITION
In today’s Scripture, John charges us to stay firm in the truth of the Gospel and warns about deceivers. He speaks of those who deny that Jesus came in the flesh: the deceiver and the antichrist. John’s message is clear: false teachings are dangerous and believers must be vigilant.
He warns us not to lose what we have worked for, but to receive the full reward. Stresses that staying true to Christ’s teaching is essential, those who abandon it lose their connection with God. He also warns against supporting false teachers. He explains that welcoming them compromises the purity of the faith and aligns us with their errors. Protecting the truth of the Gospel is crucial, not only for ourselves but also the Christian community as a whole. These verses call us to be discerning and steadfast, guarding our faith against harmful influences.
Dear devout, you must commit to living out Christ’s truth in your daily life, avoiding deceitful teachings and working for genuine love among fellow Christians. In these challenging times, let us stand firm in, faith, protect the Gospel’s purity, and glorify God through our firm commitment to His Word.
