Cleric Cautions Christians Against Reckless Speech
According to Punch Newspapers, the founder of Solid Rock Kingdom in Akwa Ibom State, Apostle John Okoriko, has warned Christians against making careless and negative statements about their lives, families, businesses, and the nation.
The cleric gave the warning during the May edition of his monthly interactive session held in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area of the state, themed, “What You Say, You Become. Part 11.”
Okoriko said many individuals, families, and churches remain trapped in hardship because they constantly speak negatively about their situations. He explained that words carry spiritual consequences and can influence people’s future and environment.
He urged Christians to avoid negative declarations about Nigeria despite the country’s economic and security challenges, adding that believers should continue speaking positively about the nation and trust God for change.
According to the cleric, negative preaching and pessimistic teachings have contributed to discouragement and stagnation in many churches and homes. He said Christians should embrace messages that inspire faith, hope, and transformation instead of fear and despair.
Okoriko further warned believers against speaking words that reinforce poverty, defeat, and hopelessness, stressing that repeated negative speech can shape a person’s reality and mindset.

He also referenced the biblical example of the Israelites, saying their negative mindset and speech contributed to their struggles. He encouraged Christians to develop faith-filled confessions rooted in Scripture rather than constantly declaring failure and hardship.
The preacher maintained that positive teachings and faith-based declarations can help transform difficult situations within families, churches, and society. He added that Christians should use their words to encourage growth, unity, and hope instead of spreading negativity and discouragement.
Okoriko also urged citizens not to lose hope in the country’s future, insisting that change remains possible if people begin to speak positively and act responsibly.
