Trump After Assassination Attempt: God’s Plan Saved My Life
The former president declared that God was on his side while reflecting on the assassination attempt that almost claimed his life last weekend.
Just five days after escaping an attempted assassination at a rally close to Butler, Pennsylvania, Trump spoke to a large assembly of Republican delegates and fans at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on Thursday. In his first significant speech since formally announcing his candidature as the Republican contender for president earlier this week, Trump addressed the attempt on his life. Trump was wearing a bandage over the graze from a gunshot in his right ear as he spoke.
Trump conveyed his appreciation for the “love and support” he got after the attempted murder. Using his platform, he described “exactly what happened,” noting that “the assassin’s bullet came within a quarter of an inch of taking my life.” He also promised that “you’ll never hear it from me a second time because it’s too painful to tell.”
In the early evening, Trump recalled, “It was a warm, beautiful day in Butler Township in the great Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.” “The campaign was doing well, and music was playing loudly.” When I approached the stage, the audience was roaring with applause. Everyone was content. I started talking about how well my administration had handled immigration at the southern border, so I got passionate.
Talking about the “big screen that was showing a chart of border crossings under my leadership” that was behind him on stage, Trump said, “I started to like this, turn to my right, and was ready to begin a little bit further turn, which I’m very lucky I didn’t do when I heard a loud, whizzing sound and felt something hit me hard on my right ear because of that.”
Wow, what was that? I thought to myself,” he continued. “My right hand was completely covered in blood when I moved it to my ear and brought it down—it was a bullet.” We dropped to the ground in a single motion, and I realised right away that this was a very severe situation.
Very courageous Secret Service agents were racing to the stage as bullets kept flying. “Pounced on top of me so that I would be protected,” he said of the Secret Service agents. Trump claimed, “In a way, I felt very safe because I had God on my side, even though there was blood pouring everywhere.”
“The assassin’s bullet would have hit its target exactly before the shot, and I would not be here tonight if I had not turned my head at that last second. Without each other, we could not be together. Later, the most astounding detail of that awful night under the setting sun became apparent.
According to Trump, when gunfire is heard during an event, “crowds run for the exits or stampede.” Because the crowd did not respond in that way, he described the shooting at his protest as “very unusual.”. “This massive crowd of tens of thousands of people stood by and did not move an inch.”
A good number of them instinctively and fearlessly rose, scanning the area for the sniper. They started pointing at him as soon as they realised it was a sniper.
He asserted, “Nobody ran, and many lives were saved by not stampeding.” “That isn’t the cause of their inaction. The explanation is that they were aware of my dire circumstances. Upon witnessing my fall and the blood, most of them concluded that I had passed away. They noticed the blood; therefore, they knew it was a shot to the head.
When Trump said, “I’m not supposed to be here tonight,” the audience erupted in a chorus of “Yes, you are!” Trump said again, “But I’m not,” adding that he was overwhelmed by the audience’s support and that he was only able to be in this arena by the mercy of Almighty God.

He said, “I’ve been watching the reports for the past few days, and a lot of people say it was a providential moment.” Trump resumed his first-person account of what transpired in Butler, concluding that “it probably was” and saying, “When I rose, surrounded by Secret Service, the crowd was confused because they thought I was dead, and there was great, great sorrow.” As I peered out, I saw that on their faces. They believed it was finished.
Donald stated that he was trying “to do something to let them know I was okay” when he made the act seen on camera, raising his right arm in the air and saying “Fight, Fight, Fight.” As he was speaking on stage at the RNC, the audience started chanting those lines.
Trump said he had “never heard anything like it” about the rallygoers’ response upon learning he was still alive. “I will be grateful for the love shown by that huge audience of heroes that stood bravely on that fateful evening in Pennsylvania for the rest of my life,” he vowed.
He sighed. “Sadly, the shooter took the life of one of our fellow Americans, Corey Comperatore.” Furthermore, he informed the assembly that he had “spoken to them today” and admitted that the gunman had “seriously wounded two other great warriors.”
Trump stated that the families of those killed or injured in the atrocity have “our love and prayers” and “always will be.” Saying, “We’re never going to forget them,” he pointed to a firefighter’s uniform displayed on stage as a tribute to Comperatore, a former fire chief. Trump approached the uniform, stood behind it, and hugged it.
He stated that “over the past five days, we’ve raised $6.3 million for the families of David, James, and Corey,” the victims of the shooting. “I want to thank the Fire Department and the family for bringing his helmet and his gear, and it was just amazing,” he said. Trump gave the order for there to be a moment of quiet in Comperatore’s honour.
In addition to calling for unity, Trump reminded the audience that “we are all fellow citizens; we are one nation under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all, in an age when our politics all too often divide us.”
The former president stated later in the speech that he thought the nation should “go forward united as one people, one nation, pledging allegiance to one great, beautiful… American flag” and that “any disagreements have to be put aside.”
Additionally, Trump addressed the controversial subject of transgender male athletes participating in women’s sports, assuring the audience that “we will not have men playing in women’s sports—that will end immediately” during a second Trump term.
Trump said, “We live in a world of miracles,” and that “none of us knows God’s plan or where life’s adventure will take us,” as his speech was coming to an end. If anything is evident from what happened on Saturday, it is that God has given us every moment that we spend here on Earth.
