Prophet Odekunle Urges Critics: Know My Story First

According to The Guardian, the Founder and General Overseer of Comfort Life Mission International, Prophet Odekunle Epaphras, has urged critics to avoid judging his ministry without first understanding his personal journey and background in Christian service.

The cleric spoke during an interview with journalists, where he addressed recent criticisms directed at his ministry. He said his current position reflects years of spiritual discipline, mentorship, and what he described as divine direction rather than sudden success.

Odekunle said he gave his life to Christ at the age of 13. He added that he later became active in church work, including prayer groups and extended fasting programmes.

He explained that his ministry journey involved long periods of training under several Christian leaders. He also said he attended Bible school as part of his spiritual development.

The cleric noted that his rise in ministry came with significant personal struggles. He mentioned financial hardship and long waiting periods before what he described as divine timing for breakthrough.

Odekunle said he worked with established ministers during his early years. He added that he often watched others progress while his own ministry appeared delayed. He disclosed that at some point he considered leaving ministry due to frustration. He said he later continued after what he described as spiritual encouragement and guidance.

The prophet linked a turning point in his ministry to events in 2020. He said those experiences led to the creation and growth of his annual “7/7” programme held every July 7.

He explained that the programme followed what he described as divine instruction, including the development of a well within the church premises and the distribution of water to worshippers.

Odekunle said the initiative later drew large gatherings and contributed to the expansion of his ministry. He also responded to criticism over the sale and distribution of bottled water and other ministry-related items. He insisted that his actions followed what he described as spiritual instructions.

The cleric defended the distribution of free anointing oil during annual programmes. He said the practice continued despite objections from some fellow religious leaders.

He alleged that some critics act out of envy. He added that he chooses not to respond to such attacks because he believes divine justice will prevail. Odekunle said criticism has strengthened his faith and deepened his commitment to ministry work. He expressed appreciation even to those who oppose him.

He urged Nigerians to consider personal history before passing judgment on public figures in ministry. He stressed that many ministries grow through sacrifice, hardship, and persistence. The prophet reaffirmed his commitment to continue his work. He said he will remain focused on what he described as God’s instructions despite ongoing criticism and controversy.
