My Sacrifice to God Broke Poverty’s Backbone-Pastor Ibiyeomie

Pastor David Ibiyeomie has said sacrifice played a major role in his journey out of poverty. He recalled giving away his electronics in 1996 and later giving $1 million in 2012 after what he described as instructions from God.

“If you teach without your testimony, that’s not testimony. I broke the backbone of poverty by sacrifice,” Ibiyeomie said.

He recalled that in 1996, while attending Bible school, an altar was raised to raise funds for an aircraft for the missions field.

God spoke to me to give every electronic I had to Him. I obeyed the instruction and gave them to Him,” he recalled.
Ibiyeomie said God then told him, “You will never beg in ministry. No mortal man prayed for me. I just dropped it.

The pastor also recalled another sacrifice in 2012. He said God instructed him to give $1 million even though he did not own a house at the time. He said God asked him, “Do you love me?” After he answered yes, he said God told him, “Give me one million dollars.”

2012, I had no house. He said, ‘Give me one million dollars,’” Ibiyeomie said. He said he kept the instruction to himself and did not tell anyone, including his wife, before making the donation. I didn’t tell no mortal man, not even my wife, he said.

According to him, only his accountant knew about the transaction. I shared the testimony here. At my level, one million dollars. That’s a testimony. True,” he said.

Ibiyeomie said the experience did not end with that sacrifice. He recalled that God instructed him last year to give at least 80 per cent of his fixed investment if he wanted a particular captivity to end.

“Do you want this captivity to turn? Give me 80% minimum of your fixed,” he recalled. He said he then called his accountant and instructed him to break the fixed investment and release the money.

As I dropped it, captivity turned. This day, not tomorrow. Someone’s captivity will turn right now,” he said.
