THE LIVING WATER DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE
DATE: Monday, 27th July, 2026.
TOPIC: REMOVE NOT THE OLD LANDMARK
MEMORISE
According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let each one take heed how he builds on it (1 Corinthians 3:10).
READ: Proverbs 22:28
[28] Do not remove the ancient landmark which your fathers have set.
EXPOSITION
Landmarks are objects that help identify a location or set boundaries. They stop people from crossing limits. Today, we see the wisdom of past generations being dismissed, especially by the Gen-Zs, who often view the lessons of their forebears as outdated. Yet, the teachings of the fathers remain vital. King Solomon called them “ancient landmarks” (Prov. 22:28). These landmarks bring peace, guidance and direction, not confusion or worry.
In the New Testament, apostle Paul likened such landmarks to a foundation (1 Cor. 3-10-11). Foundations, though hidden once a building is complete, are essential. They hold everything in place and cannot be removed. Paul warns us to be careful of how we build on this foundation, which is Jesus Christ
Ancient landmarks and spiritual foundations remind us of enduring truths They connect us to the wisdom of those who came before us in the Lord and ensure that we don’t stray from God’s path. Let us honour them, standing firm and building wisely on Christ, the cornerstone of our faith.

We lie and we deceive ourselves
If we think He knows not.

With Whom we have to do,
Both night and day, darkness and light
Are the same in His sight.

And help us, Lord, always to fear
Not to sin against Thee.
