Bishop Oyedepo Defends Christians’ Right to Choose Leaders
The founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo, has encouraged Nigerians, particularly members of the church, to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2027 general elections, describing voting as both a civic responsibility and a constitutional right.
Speaking during Sunday’s service at Canaan land, Ota, Ogun State, where he preached a sermon titled “Breaking the Curses of Life,” Oyedepo urged Christians not to remain passive in the nation’s democratic process. He said believers should participate in electing leaders based on their personal convictions.
According to the cleric, citizens have a duty to contribute to the leadership of their countries through the ballot box, stressing that Christians should not see themselves as spectators in national affairs.

Highlighting the global reach of Living Faith Church, which he said is present in 144 nations, Oyedepo encouraged members to secure their voter cards and make informed choices during elections. He maintained that every eligible citizen has the right to influence who governs the nation through lawful participation in the electoral process.
The bishop also reaffirmed the church’s non-partisan position, noting that while it encourages civic engagement, it does not endorse political candidates. He remarked that he has never sought public office or asked anyone to vote for him, adding that the church’s role is to remind members of their responsibility as citizens.
Oyedepo concluded by urging worshippers to exercise their voting rights, saying that with millions of members, the church has a legitimate voice in shaping the nation’s future through active participation in the electoral process.
