Pastor Daysman Oyakhilome Calls Churches to Deep Prayer
According to The Guardian Newspaper, Pastor Daysman Oyakhilome has urged churches and Christians to make prayer the foundation of their spiritual lives, stressing that lasting growth and effective ministry come through dependence on God rather than human ability.
Speaking during a recent sermon, he challenged believers to reject every excuse for spiritual barrenness. He said God expects every Christian to remain fruitful regardless of the circumstances they face.
He explained that a consistent prayer life strengthens faith, deepens fellowship with God and helps believers receive divine direction as they carry out their calling. He encouraged Christians to invest more time in spiritual communion than relying solely on human methods.
“If you’ve been engaging your cell members more, start engaging angels more,” he said. He explained that those who commit themselves to prayer position themselves to receive divine assistance in fulfilling God’s purpose.

Drawing lessons from the life of the Apostle Peter, he said the early Church experienced God’s guidance and intervention through angelic ministry. He noted that while planning and sound organisation have their place, prayer must remain the driving force behind Christian service.
He added that believers who develop a disciplined prayer life gain greater spiritual clarity, confidence and wisdom in carrying out their assignments. He maintained that prayer equips Christians to overcome challenges and remain effective in their walk with God.
He concluded by encouraging Christians to cultivate a lifestyle of consistent prayer, spiritual fruitfulness and complete dependence on God’s leading. He urged the Church to prioritise intimacy with God as the key to fulfilling its mission and positively impacting society.
