TOPIC: DEALING WITH THE LOVE OF MONEY
SCRIPTURE: For the love of money is the root of all evil: which, while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 1 Timothy 6:10
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Money is a wonderful servant but a very terrible taskmaster.
Seeds of Destiny for Today’s Message
Our God is a God of plan and purpose. He has a plan and purpose for everyone He created. Therefore, you are here on earth with a specific purpose, and it is crucial for you to commit to living your life to its fullest potential.
However, there are enemies of purpose, enemies of destiny that must be dealt with if we must fulfil our destiny. Many people would have been at higher realms than where they are today if not for some enemies of destiny crippling their lives. That is why today, we are looking at one of the deadly enemies of destiny, which is the lifestyle of greed, the love of money.
Beloved, note these about money.
- Evil is rooted in the love of money (1 Timothy 6:10). The love of money is the root of all evil. The love of money, greed, destroyed Lot’s wife, Achan, Gehazi, and Judas Iscariot.
- Money is a wonderful servant but a very terrible taskmaster. Money answers all things, but it has the ability to control people’s lives and actions.
- The love of money is a major killer of the love of God (Matthew 6:24).
- The love of money is the killer of conscience. Some people are trading in human spare parts, killing, and robbing people to get money because the love of money has killed their conscience.
Some time ago, a girl came and dropped a car within the church premises. She said, “I won’t drive this car again.” When she was asked, Why? She said, “It was sin, fornication, that gave me the car; I want to hand it out. I am dropping it; I can’t drive the blood car.” Terrible! The love of money and greed can push people into any despicable acts.
Now, what is the therapy for the love of money?
- Ask God to kill your love for money.
- Embrace the lifestyle of generosity. Nothing destroys greed like giving. Giving to God and man kills the love of money.
- Give God the first place in your financial life (Proverbs 3:9). When you put God above money, money will find its level.
Remember this: nothing destroys greed like giving.
ASSIGNMENT(S):
- Ask God to kill the love of money in your heart if money already has a grip on you.
- Maintain the lifestyle of giving.
- Flee the temptation of doing anything, however crooked, just to get money.
PRAYER: Lord, I refuse to serve mammon or be controlled by it. I will serve and worship You alone, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
