Oyedepo Warns Christians to Act as Church Attacks Intensify

A Renewed Warning Amid Rising Violence

Bishop David Oyedepo, Presiding Bishop of Living Faith Church Worldwide, has issued a fresh warning to Nigerians following a series of deadly attacks on churches. His message revisits a caution he first sounded 15 years ago, urging the country to confront widespread insecurity before it plunges into what he described as an avoidable season of anarchy.

The renewed alarm comes after violent assaults on worship centers in which several believers were killed and others abducted. The bishop, visibly concerned, said the events of the past two weeks should stir Christians into urgent spiritual action.

The Bishop Reacts to Recent Church Attacks

Speaking during the fourth Pre Shiloh Encounter Service, as reported by Vanguard, Oyedepo described recent developments as deeply troubling. He called for immediate and sustained prayer to halt what he termed the senseless shedding of innocent blood.

He stated that the lives lost in these attacks will not be ignored by heaven and that the perpetrators will face the consequences of their actions. In his words, innocent blood has a voice, and that voice cries out for justice.

According to him, people should not be sacrificed for the comfort or negligence of leaders. He insisted that no one can take lives with impunity, and every act of violence against worshippers must be confronted spiritually and legally.

A Call to Christians to Rise in Midnight Prayer

In response to the growing wave of violence, Oyedepo called for a nationwide midnight prayer raid. He challenged members of Living Faith Church, known as Winners, and Christians across the country to set aside one hour, from midnight to 1am, to pray for divine intervention.

He questioned how churches could be invaded, people killed during worship, and yet no significant action is taken. According to him, God is rising as a God of justice, and believers must join forces in prayer to confront the spiritual roots of the crisis.

The bishop emphasized that the call to prayer is not a casual suggestion, but a prophetic instruction aimed at averting a deeper national tragedy.

Affirming His Nigerian Identity and Commitment

Oyedepo reaffirmed his personal connection to Nigeria, stating that no one is more Nigerian than he is. He highlighted that every citizen has ancestral ties to the land and insisted that no earthly power exceeds the authority of God.

He reminded the congregation that the destiny of Nigeria remains in divine hands and that no agenda of chaos can override what God has spoken concerning the nation.

Spiritual Foundations for Justice and Peace

While addressing why wicked acts attract divine consequences, the bishop referenced scriptural foundations such as Genesis 12 verse 3, emphasizing that harm done against the innocent brings a curse.

He also quoted Psalm 85 verse 8, explaining that when God speaks, peace follows. According to him, God will not allow the nation to return to folly or descend into irreversible trouble. He said he has been warning about these issues for 15 years and that the burden to speak again came from the Spirit of God.

Condemning Violence and Demanding Justice

Oyedepo strongly condemned the increasing cases of kidnapping, terrorism, and attacks on worship centers. He said believers must pray not only for protection but also for justice against those who sponsor and execute acts of violence.

He urged the congregation to engage in midnight prayers and to anoint their homes as a spiritual covering. He added that every attack against the church will be met with divine judgment.

He cautioned leaders and citizens alike not to politicize human life, calling such behavior immoral and destructive. Instead, he encouraged unity, collective prayer, and a renewed commitment to defending the sanctity of life.

A Final Charge to the Nation

As he concluded his message, Bishop Oyedepo reminded Nigerians that when God steps in, the arrogance of evil is cut down. He declared that Nigeria will not fall into chaos and insisted that every believer must join hands and hearts in prayer to secure the future of the nation.

He urged all Christians to take the midnight prayer session seriously, describing it as a prophetic action against the forces fueling violence in the country.
