Eruku CAC Attack: Church President Pays Sympathy Visit

CAC President Visits Eruku Congregation After Deadly Bandit Attack

The Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) community in Nigeria was thrown into mourning following the tragic attack on its assembly in Eruku, Kwara State, where armed bandits invaded an evening service, killed members, and abducted dozens. In response to this heartbreaking incident, the President of CAC Nigeria, Pastor Samuel Olusegun Oladele, alongside his Assistant, Pastor T.D. Asokeji, paid a compassion-filled visit to the affected church to comfort, encourage, and stand in solidarity with the congregation.

A Visit Marked by Sorrow and Compassion

Upon arriving in Eruku, the President and his team were warmly received by the elders of the church, and the young church member who had been handling the livestream on the day of the attack. Their first stop was the church auditorium where the violence happened, a sight described as devastating and difficult to behold.

Pastor Oladele took time to pray with the pastorate, strengthening their spirits and reminding them of God’s unwavering presence even in the darkest moments. Afterwards, he addressed the press who accompanied the delegation.

Press Interview with the CAC President

Interviewer: Good day sir, can you tell us what happened?

President: The Christ Apostolic Church here in Eruku was attacked by bandits four days ago during an evening service. Not less than 38 members were abducted, and some lost their lives. We are here to sympathize with them and stand with them in this painful moment.

Interviewer: What is your message to the victims and their families?

President: We serve a living God, and He remains God in every situation. He has promised to be with us always. We are here to assure them that God is with them, for them, and will not leave them alone. He is the God of this church, and we believe He will bring the abducted ones back safe and sound in Jesus’ name.

Interviewer: What message would you like to send to the government concerning insecurity?

President: We acknowledge that the government is doing something, but their best is not enough. Security should be given utmost priority. Citizens are increasingly fearful of going about their daily activities. The earlier this issue is properly addressed, the better.

A Tour of the Affected Premises

Church elders led Pastor Oladele around the premises, showing him the physical damage inflicted by the attackers, revealing how violently the bandits stormed the premises. They narrated how the attackers approached from several directions, overpowered and killed the church security personnel, and forced their way into the sanctuary mid-service.

In the chaos, members, including children, youths, and the elderly, scrambled for safety as their worship was violently disrupted.

Solidarity With the Community

After receiving the full briefing, the CAC President also visited the Chief, offering words of sympathy and solidarity on behalf of the mission. His visit strengthened not only the church but the entire community still reeling from the shock of the attack.

A Call for Healing, Unity, and Hope

The tragedy at CAC Eruku is a painful reminder of the fragility of life and the rising insecurity faced by innocent worshippers across the nation. Yet, in the midst of tears, shattered walls, and broken hearts, the visit of the CAC President brought a glimmer of hope,  a reassurance that the church is not abandoned, that their pain is seen, and their cries are heard.

As the community grieves, one truth remains unshaken: God is still near. His presence walks through the ruins, His comfort wraps around the grieving families, and His strength holds the church together. Though fear tried to silence their worship, faith continues to rise from the ashes.

This moment calls on every believer, every leader, and every arm of government to stand together, to protect our places of worship, to support those who mourn, and to work tirelessly so that no congregation ever experiences such horror again.

May the God of all comfort heal the wounded, restore the broken, and bring back every abducted member safely. And may the light of Christ shine even brighter in Eruku, reminding us all that darkness never has the final say.
