Bishop Oyedepo: “I’m a Poor Money Raiser”
Bishop David Oyedepo, founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide (Winners’ Chapel), has admitted that fundraising has never been his strength. Speaking recently, he said, “I’m a very poor money raiser, it’s not a calling. If you ask me to raise money, nobody will give.”
Oyedepo explained that his focus has always been on teaching the word of God rather than soliciting funds. He recalled a spiritual encounter on September 6, during which he and his team drew inspiration from Psalm 34:5: “They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed.”

To him, the experience confirmed a divine instruction to “raise men” rather than pursue money. He added that members are free to give only as they feel led, stressing that true rewards come from willing service, not compulsion. “I’ll teach you what the word says. You respond as you will. If you do it willingly, you have a reward. Otherwise, you are marking time,” he said.
Oyedepo also pointed to a message delivered by Pastor Enoch Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God on September 17. Adeboye declared that the ministry would succeed with or without financial support. To Oyedepo, the timing of both revelations confirmed God’s hand in their ministries.
The Bishop’s comments may signal a new phase for Winners’ Chapel, where spiritual growth and discipleship take center stage over financial drives.
