Woman, 25, Arrested For Stabbing Co-Wife To Death In Katsina

A 25-year-old woman, Rabi’a Labaran, has been arrested by the Katsina State Police Command for allegedly stabbing her co-wife, Zainab Lawal, to death during a domestic dispute in Daura.

The tragic incident occurred late Saturday night in the Sabon Gari area of Daura, behind Dadi Primary School. According to a statement issued on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, the altercation between the two women escalated into violence, resulting in Zainab suffering multiple fatal stab wounds.

Their husband, Nasir Yusuf, reportedly returned home around 11 p.m. to find Zainab in a pool of blood. She was immediately rushed by police operatives from the Sabon Gari Division to the Federal Medical Centre, Daura, where she was confirmed dead on arrival.

“During the preliminary investigation, the suspect confessed to the act, citing a disagreement with the deceased as the cause of the fight,” DSP Sadiq said, adding that the case remains under investigation.

The State Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Shehu, condemned the killing and urged the public to embrace lawful and peaceful means of conflict resolution, particularly within family settings. He also warned against domestic violence, emphasising that taking the law into one’s own hands undermines justice and endangers lives.
