Take Second Wife, Don’t Cheat Over Intimacy-Prophet Akinbo Shalom
Prophet Akinbo Shalom Kelvin has advised married men whose wives repeatedly deny them intimacy to address the issue openly rather than engage in adultery, while suggesting that they could consider taking a second wife if the situation persists.
The cleric made the remarks during a sermon while discussing intimacy, communication and responsibilities within marriage.
Shalom criticised teachings that require husbands to spend all day preparing their wives for intimacy.
“I heard a pastor said, ‘If you want sex, if you want intimacy with your wife at night, start preparing your wife from the morning!’” he said.
The prophet questioned why a married man should have to continually beg or negotiate with his wife for intimacy, arguing that marriage should be built on mutual understanding and responsibility.
According to him, “Marriage should involve mutual understanding, mutual communication, mutual affection, and responsibility from both husband and wife.”
Shalom, however, warned men against secretly cheating on their wives when faced with persistent rejection.

He advised couples to communicate about the issue, identify possible underlying problems and seek counselling where necessary. “If your wife continually denies you, don’t secretly cheat. Talk to her, find out what’s wrong, seek counselling where necessary,” he said.
The cleric then suggested that if the problem continued despite attempts to resolve it, a man could openly discuss the possibility of taking a second wife rather than committing adultery.
He argued that Scripture does not explicitly prohibit a man from having a second wife. “There is no scripture that says that you cannot take a second wife. Show me one scripture,” Shalom declared.
His comments may spark debate among Christians over polygamy and marriage.
Shalom maintained that such discussions should be handled openly between spouses rather than through secret affairs that could damage the marriage.
