Pastor Akinsulere Shares Erio Mountain’s Origin at Erio’26

Pastor S. O. Akinsulure has recounted the origins of Erio Mountain, tracing its history to the obedience of Apostle Joseph Ayo Babalola, founder of the Christ Apostolic Church revival movement.

Speaking during the ongoing ERIO Power Explosion 2026, Pastor S. O. Akinsulure narrated how Apostle Joseph Ayo Babalola received divine instruction from God to find a mountain dedicated to prayer.

According to Pastor S. O. Akinsulure, the journey initially took Apostle Joseph Ayo Babalola to Olosunta in Ikere-Ekiti. However, the location did not provide the space required for the assignment. He said God later directed Apostle Joseph Ayo Babalola to proceed to Erio and find a mountain for Him.

Pastor S. O. Akinsulure explained that Apostle Joseph Ayo Babalola informed the elders of Erio about the divine instruction upon arriving in the community. He added that one of the Apostle’s close associates from Modakeke, Pa Simon, had earlier come to pray on the mountain and was the person who led Apostle Joseph Ayo Babalola to the site after God directed him to Erio.

He further explained that after arriving at the mountain, Apostle Joseph Ayo Babalola and his disciples walked around the area in search of a suitable place for prayer. After selecting the location, Apostle Joseph Ayo Babalola instructed his disciples to gather stones and arrange them in a circle around the prayer spot.

Apostle Ayo Babalola then personally used stones to form the sign of the cross at the centre of the circle, consecrating it as a sacred place of prayer. Pastor S. O. Akinsulure noted that women were not permitted to pray at that particular spot.

Sharing his personal connection to the mountain, Pastor S. O. Akinsulure recalled that in 1966, while he was a student at the Bible College in Efon Alaaye, the college principal, Mrs. O. O. Pearce, led students to Erio Mountain during the Lenten season for prayers.

According to Pastor S. O. Akinsulure, the students brought their lesson notes and handouts to the mountain, dedicating the period to prayer and seeking God’s guidance alongside their academic pursuits.

He said he later returned to the mountain with his wife and witnessed how the once secluded prayer ground had grown into a major centre of Christian pilgrimage, attracting thousands of worshippers each year for prayer, spiritual renewal, healing, and revival.

The minister described the growth of Erio Mountain as evidence of the enduring impact of the vision established through Apostle Joseph Ayo Babalola and faithfully sustained by succeeding generations.

The session concluded with prayers for the General Evangelist of Christ Apostolic Church Worldwide, Prophet Hezekiah Oluboye Oladeji, as worshippers joined in prayers during the gathering.

ERIO Power Explosion 2026 continues to attract participants from across Nigeria and beyond under the theme, “The Covenant Answer” (Majemu Idahun), drawn from Hosea 2:21.
