Pastor Adeboye Opens Up on Son’s Passing and Faith

“I Had Many Questions for God When My Son Died” – Pastor E.A. Adeboye

Grief is a valley every believer hopes never to walk through, yet sometimes God allows us to taste its depth. Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has shared his heart about one of the darkest moments of his life—the passing of his son, Pastor Dare Adeboye, in 2021.

With fatherly honesty, he admitted, “I had many questions for God when my son died.” Those words echo the unspoken cry of many who have stood before loss, trying to understand what only eternity can explain.

But even in his pain, Adeboye testified that his faith in God’s sovereignty remains unshaken. He reminded the church that God’s thoughts are higher than ours, and His ways are far beyond human understanding. What looks like tragedy to us can still be a piece of His perfect plan.

Pastor Adeboye’s openness has given comfort to countless believers, showing that it is not unspiritual to grieve or to ask God hard questions. True faith is not the absence of tears but the decision to keep trusting while the tears fall.

The life of Pastor Dare, fondly called “Pastor D”, was a flame that burned brightly for Christ, especially among the youth. Though his time on earth was short, his impact was eternal.

As Pastor Adeboye’s testimony reminds us: in seasons of heartbreak, clinging to God is not just survival—it is worship. And though we may not understand everything on this side of eternity, one day the pieces will fit together in His glorious plan.
