Nigeria Pays Final Respect to Ex President Muhammadu Buhari
The nation is in mourning following the passing of former Nigerian leader, Muhammadu Buhari, who died on Sunday at the age of 82 in a London hospital. His death has drawn a wave of reactions from across the country.
Buhari’s influence on Nigeria spanned decades. He once held power as a military leader and later returned as a democratically elected president, serving from 2015 to 2023. Known for his strict style and deep sense of duty, Buhari leaves behind a legacy that remains a topic of discussion among citizens and leaders alike.
Former presidents and statesmen have spoken publicly, calling him a man of conviction who placed the nation above personal interest. They praised his years of public service and remembered him as someone who took on the burden of leadership with courage and discipline.
Religious groups also shared in the grief. The Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), under the leadership of the Sultan of Sokoto, expressed sorrow over Buhari’s death, describing him as a modest and principled figure who upheld faith and fairness in national affairs.

Traditional leaders also joined in the national reflection. Emir Ahmed Bamalli of Zazzau described Buhari’s life as a symbol of integrity and perseverance. In a message to the family, the emir extended heartfelt condolences and praised the former president’s lifelong commitment to national unity.
