EPIC25 CONFERENCE OF ALL EVANGELISTS, PLANTERS, PROPHETS & PROPHETESSES

TOPIC: PRINCIPLES AND METHODOLOGY FOR RAISING GODLY LEADERS

INTRODUCTION

Raising godly leaders is a critical responsibility in the body of Christ. The church must equip individuals who will lead with integrity, wisdom, and the fear of God. The Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), known for its deep spiritual heritage, provides a strong biblical foundation for nurturing leaders who uphold Christian values. This lecture explores the principles and methodologies for raising godly leaders, emphasizing biblical teachings and CAC’s spiritual legacy.

CHARACTERISTICS OF GODLY LEADERS

  • Divine Calling and Purpose
Leadership in the church is not just an ambition but a divine calling (Jeremiah 1:5; Ephesians 4:11-12).
Identifying God’s call upon individuals through prayer and spiritual discernment.
Example: Moses’ divine call through the burning bush (Exodus 3:1-12).
  • Spiritual Maturity and Holiness
A godly leader must be spiritually mature, possessing a deep relationship with God (1 Timothy 3:1-7).
Holiness is essential; leaders should reflect the character of Christ (1 Peter 1:15-16).
Example: Joseph’s integrity and commitment to holiness (Genesis 39:7-12).
  • Biblical Knowledge and Doctrine
A leader must be well-versed in Scripture and sound doctrine to guide others (2 Timothy 2:15).
Training in biblical interpretation, theology, and CAC’s doctrinal teachings.
Example: Ezra as a skilled scribe who taught God’s law (Ezra 7:10).
  • Prayer and Dependence on the Holy Spirit
Leaders must cultivate a strong prayer life (Luke 18:1, Acts 6:4).
The Holy Spirit empowers and guides leaders (Acts 1:8).
Example: Nehemiah’s prayerful leadership before rebuilding Jerusalem’s walls (Nehemiah 1:4-11).
  • Servant Leadership
The leader follows Christ’s model of servanthood (Mark 10:45).
  • A godly leader must be humble, willing to serve, and prioritise the needs of others.
  • King David’s heart for God and service to his people (1 Samuel 16:11-13, 2 Samuel 5:1-3).
  • INTEGRITY AND ACCOUNTABILITY (Proverbs 11:3, Titus 1:7-9).
  • Leaders must exhibit honesty and transparency.
  • The role of spiritual mentors and church elders in ensuring accountability.
  • Example: Daniel’s unwavering integrity in Babylon (Daniel 6:3-5).

II. METHODOLOGY FOR RAISING GODLY LEADERS

  • DISCIPLESHIP AND MENTORSHIP
  • Biblical model: Jesus trained the twelve disciples through mentorship (Matthew 28:19-20).
  • Assigning spiritual fathers/mothers to mentor upcoming leaders.
  • Example: Elijah mentoring Elisha for prophetic leadership (1 Kings 19:19-21, 2 Kings 2:9-15).
  • STRUCTURED LEADERSHIP TRAINING PROGRAMMES
  • Bible schools and theological training (e.g., CAC Theological Seminary).
  • Workshops, retreats, and conferences focusing on leadership development.
  • Example: Moses training Joshua to lead Israel (Deuteronomy 31:7-8, Joshua 1:1-9).
  • EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING AND PRACTICAL MINISTRY EXPOSURE
  • Encouraging hands-on experience through ministry assignments.
  • Training in evangelism, church administration, and pastoral care.
  • Example: Samuel’s apprenticeship under Eli before becoming a prophet (1 Samuel 3:1-10).
  • PRAYER AND FASTING CULTURE
  • Regular prayer meetings and fasting programmes to build spiritual strength and discernment.
  • Leadership prayer meetings and fasting within the church.
  • Example: Jehoshaphat leading Israel in fasting and prayer before battle (2 Chronicles 20:3-4).
  • CONTINUOUS LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT
  • Encouraging leaders to engage in lifelong learning.

Access to books, theological materials, and digital resources for growth.

Example: Solomon’s pursuit of wisdom for leadership (1 Kings 3:5-14).

Conclusion

The church must intentionally invest in raising godly leaders who are spiritually

strong, biblically sound, and committed to serving with humility. By following

biblical principles and structured methodologies, our church can nurture

leaders who will influence generations for Christ. The goal is not just leadership.

but leadership that glorifies God and advances His kingdom on earth.

Key Scripture: “And the things that you have heard from me among many

Witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.”

(2 Timothy 2:2)
