Bishop David Oyedepo: “I Only Mind God’s Opinion of Me”

Bishop David Oyedepo: “I Only Mind God’s Opinion of Me”

Presiding Bishop of Living Faith Church, David Oyedepo, has emphasized that only God’s opinion determines destiny, not the voices of critics.

Speaking on the faith journey of the ministry, Oyedepo recalled how many once predicted the collapse of Winners’ Chapel within a few years of its founding. He said some claimed the church would not last more than three years. Others stretched the prediction to five years, then seven. Today, the ministry is over 44 years strong, with global impact.

Quoting Psalm 23, he declared that God prepares a table for His people in the presence of their enemies. “Your enemies are helpless when God is leading,” he said, stressing that their opinions do not count in shaping divine destiny.

Oyedepo also revealed that some individuals once prophesied he would not live to see 70. Now at 71, he pointed to the revelation he received on longevity as far back as 1982, when he preached his first series on Victory Over Death. “I had sound revelation by the Holy Spirit on the reality of longevity,” he said.

He urged believers to build their expectations from scripture, not from human predictions. According to him, “Your destination is a function of your expectation as drawn from revelation. Their expectation cannot render your own expectation of no effect.”

The cleric concluded by encouraging Christians to take responsibility for their lives through the Word of God. “It is your findings that define your destination. Settle down and make more findings from the Word. You have the power to create the world you desire,” he added.
