I want my music to transform lives – Evangelist Ighodalo

Gospel singer and songwriter Evans Ighodalo has said his music aims to influence listeners positively by encouraging spiritual and mental growth.

Speaking about his creative approach in a statement shared with Saturday Beats, Ighodalo said he wants his songs to carry meaningful messages for people of different ages.

He explained that his goal goes beyond producing enjoyable music. According to him, listeners should experience a positive change in their thinking and spiritual lives after engaging with his songs.

Ighodalo also stressed the influence of music on society. He said the ideas people consume through songs can shape their thoughts, behaviour and relationships.

The gospel artiste noted that these influences can affect how individuals live together and contribute to society. He therefore believes that what people consume mentally plays a role in national development.

His music combines themes of morality, spirituality and faith. He sees music as a channel through which positive values can reach a wider audience.

Ighodalo’s latest single, Jesus Reigns, reflects this approach. The song points listeners towards Jesus Christ while emphasising His authority and reign.

According to him, artistes need depth, excellence and effective delivery to distinguish their work and communicate their messages successfully.

Ighodalo further spoke about the role music can play amid global challenges. With conflict, social vices and division affecting communities, he sees music as an avenue for promoting peace.

He believes gospel music can offer listeners an alternative message centred on faith, morality and positive living.

Through his music, Ighodalo said he hopes to encourage both young and older listeners to embrace ideas that can contribute to personal growth and positive change.
