Apostle Achudume Urges Women To Pursue Excellence & Purpose

The Lead Pastor of Victory Life Bible Church International, Apostle Lawrence Achudume, has encouraged Nigerian women to pursue excellence and become people of lasting impact through character, service and responsibility.

He gave the message during the 2026 All Women Summit held at Victory City in Abeokuta. The two day event gathered women from different backgrounds and challenged them to grow personally, serve others and become positive influences in their homes, workplaces, communities and the church.

The summit, themed Shine, also honoured the memory of the late Fola Achudume, wife of the General Overseer, who passed away in 2024. The annual gathering was created to mentor, encourage, and empower women to live meaningful lives, inspired by her vision

Speaking during the summit, Achudume said many of Nigeria’s leadership problems exist because some people seek positions without preparing themselves for the responsibility that comes with leadership. According to him, true leadership is not about holding a title but about serving people with discipline, wisdom and commitment.

He explained that many people desire leadership roles but are unwilling to make the sacrifices needed to lead well. As a result, the nation continues to face poor leadership in different sectors.

Using Isaiah 48 verses 10 to 13, Achudume said every genuine leader passes through seasons of testing before becoming effective.

According to him, God shapes leaders through difficult experiences rather than comfort. Therefore, those who want to lead must be ready to grow through challenges and remain faithful to their calling.

Furthermore, the cleric urged leaders in government, the church and other areas of society to lead with integrity, accountability and compassion. He also encouraged women to reject excuses and allow God’s Word to shape their character and purpose. He reminded them that every woman has a God given assignment and can become a source of hope through excellence, faithful service and strong faith.

Guest minister Ngozi Okwok also paid tribute to the late Fola Achudume. She described her as a woman of deep faith whose life was marked by sacrifice and a strong passion for raising purposeful women.

Okwok said Fola Achudume’s legacy continues to inspire many women across generations. She therefore encouraged participants to keep learning, improve themselves and never allow their background to limit their future.

She reminded the women that ignorance should never become an excuse. Instead, they should pursue knowledge, develop their skills and become lights in their families, careers and communities.

Meanwhile, one of the major moments of the summit was the Shop for Free outreach. During the programme, hundreds of women, especially those in need, received clothes, shoes, household items and other essential materials at no cost. They added that serving the vulnerable remains an important part of the church’s mission to transform lives through faith and compassion.
