THE LIVING WATER DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE

DATE: Wednesday, 1st July, 2026

[Doctor’s Day]

TOPIC: BEING GIFTED AND FRUITFUL (I)

MEMORISE:

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, and faithfulness (Galatians 5:22).

READ:

1 Corinthians 13:6-10

[6]. does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth;

[7]. bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

[8]. Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away.

[9]. For we know in part and we prophesy in part.

[10]. But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away.

EXPOSITION

This Doctor’s Day, reflect on your gifts and how they are used to serve others. Spiritual gifts, such as prophecy and healing often draw admiration because of their outward impacts. However, in God’s eyes, the fruit of the Spirit — qualities, such as love, kindness, and patience — are even more important. This fruit shows a godly character and bring true maturity, guiding the wise use of gifts.

Gifts without spiritual fruit can be harmful. Samson, despite his great strength, failed because of his unchecked desires (Jdg. 16:20). This reminds us that spiritual gifts alone are not enough; they must be balanced with godly character. God calls us to reflect His nature through the fruit of the Spirit, which transforms us into Christ’s image.

Even those with impressive ministries can lose sight of personal holiness, risking eternity despite their works (2 Cor, 13:5). Jesus warned that miracles without character may be denied on Judgement Day (Lk. 13:27). God prioritises holiness over ministry, urging us to seek both His gifts and His fruit.

Doctors, as healers gifted to serve humanity, should model this balance by combining their skills with compassion, patience, and kindness. These qualities reflect the love of the Giver and bring glory to Him.

SUGGESTED HYMN FOR TODAY:

CACGHB: 720

1. Rise, ye children of salvation,

All who cleave to Christ the Head,

Wake, arise! O mighty nation,

Ere the foe on Zion tread.

Pour it forth a mighty anthem,

Like the thunders of the sea

Through the blood of Christ our ransom,

More than conquerors are we

Chorus:

More than conquerors are we

More than conquerors are we

Through the blood of Christ our ransom,

More than conquerors are we.

2. Saints and heroes long before us,

Firmly on this ground have stood;

See their banners waving o’er us,

Conquerors through Jesus’ blood.

3. Deathless, we are all unfearing,

Life laid up with Christ in God;

In the morn of His appearing

Floweth forth a glory flood.

4. Soon we all shall stand before Him,

See and know our glorious Lord;

Soon in joy and light adore Him,

Each receiving his reward.

Amen.
