Former CAN Chairman Ven Emmanuel Ajayi Dies at 86
The Christian community has been thrown into mourning following the death of Venerable Emmanuel Olorunmola Ajayi, a retired Anglican Archdeacon, who passed away at the age of 86. He was widely respected for his decades of ministry and commitment to the work of God.
Reports confirm that he died on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at the Federal Teaching Hospital in Lokoja, Kogi State. His family announced his passing, describing his transition as the end of a faithful and fulfilled life of service.
Ajayi served for about 41 years in active ministry across different dioceses within the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion). During this time, he became known as a dedicated preacher, church planter, and spiritual leader who contributed greatly to church growth and development.
Furthermore, he held influence within Christian leadership structures, including roles connected to the Christian Association of Nigeria. His work reflected a strong commitment to unity, faith, and the expansion of the gospel across communities.
