Oyedepo Warns Youths Against Living Beyond Their Means
Bishop David Oyedepo has cautioned young people against borrowing or living above their financial capacity. The founder of Living Faith Church said he has never borrowed money and would not do so for the rest of his life because he chooses to live within his means.
Speaking to his congregation, Oyedepo stressed that many young entrepreneurs make the mistake of chasing appearances rather than starting small. He criticized those who rent expensive offices without a stable source of income, warning that such habits lead to frustration and failure.
“Our first office was one hundred naira per month,” he said. “That was what we could afford, not because it was the only one available, but because it was within our reach.”

He explained that contentment and financial discipline are key to lasting success. “I don’t pray for rent. I rent houses that fit my budget. If the price doesn’t match my means, then it’s not the house I’m looking for,” he added.
Oyedepo also condemned gambling and betting, describing them as a mockery of hard work. He said that people who rely on luck rather than diligence end up disappointed.
“In our time, lottery existed, but I never saw anyone who made meaning out of it. There are a thousand legitimate ways to earn income. Learn to start small; growth is inevitable when you do things right,” he concluded
