1,300 Gather For ECO National Gathering Worship In Texas
About 1,300 people recently gathered for the ECO National Gathering, the annual event hosted by ECO: A Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians. Held at Highland Park Presbyterian Church in Dallas, Texas, the gathering focused on worship, fellowship, and spiritual rejuvenation. Unlike previous years, discussions on legislative matters have been postponed to next year’s event, which will take place in Atlanta, Georgia.
The theme for this year’s conference was “Abide,” drawing inspiration from John 15:4-5, where Jesus teaches about remaining in Him to bear fruit. The passage states, “Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine, no more can you, except you abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.”
ECO’s director of communications, Rev. Beth Allin, explained that the chosen theme was meant to provide attendees with a time of spiritual retreat. She noted that previous gatherings had revealed a widespread need for rest and renewal, prompting a greater emphasis this year on worship and devotion. “We dedicated time to abiding in Christ, whether through worship, reflection, or exploring how faith remains steadfast through different seasons—whether in struggle, growth, or daily life,” Allin shared.
The event welcomed both long-time participants and first-time attendees, including ministry teams eager to learn, build connections, and gain inspiration. “Every year, we see many newcomers, along with ministry teams who come to learn, fellowship, and enjoy time together,” said Allin. “We strive to offer diverse speaker topics and insights from experienced pastors, leaders, and practitioners who are passionate about Christ, both within and outside of ECO.”
One of the core goals of the gathering was to strengthen the spiritual foundation of attendees, especially those serving in small or rural churches who may feel isolated. “This event serves as a reminder that they are deeply loved by Jesus and that they are never alone in ministry,” Allin emphasised.

The atmosphere of the event was filled with joy and encouragement as participants engaged in heartfelt worship and faith-building activities. “Our National Gathering always carries a profound sense of joy,” Allin remarked. “We hope that everyone leaves feeling spiritually uplifted and encouraged for the year ahead.”
Beyond the annual event, ECO remains committed to fostering ongoing connections among its members. “As a Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians, our goal is for people to remain connected year-round, supporting one another through prayer, encouragement, and shared ideas,” Allin added.
ECO was established in January 2012, originally named the Evangelical Covenant Order of Presbyterians. The denomination was formed in response to theological shifts within the Presbyterian Church (USA) (PCUSA), particularly after Amendment 10a was approved, allowing for the ordination of individuals in same-sex relationships. Since its founding, ECO has grown to encompass approximately 450 congregations, many of which transitioned from PCUSA.
As the National Gathering concluded, attendees departed with a renewed commitment to their faith, strengthened relationships, and a deeper sense of purpose in their spiritual journeys.
