WAEC Set to Release 2025 WASSCE Results by August 4, Dismisses Cancellation Reports
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has confirmed that the results of the 2025 May/June school certificate examination will be officially released on or before Thursday, August 4.
This assurance came from WAEC Nigeria’s Head of National Office, Dr. Amos Dangut, in a statement conveyed through the council’s Public Affairs Unit in Lagos.
Furthermore, the marking of candidates’ scripts has just been concluded, and preparations for the release of results are in their final stages.
The council’s announcement follows the circulation of a fake report online claiming that all papers written in the 2025 WASSCE had been cancelled due to alleged examination malpractice and question leaks.
WAEC strongly refuted the rumour, describing it as false and intended to create confusion among students and parents. The council clarified that it did not issue such a statement and has no connection to the claims being spread across social media.
“The public should disregard any statement suggesting the cancellation of this year’s exams,” WAEC stated. “There is no truth to the allegations. The examination stands, and the results will be released as scheduled.”
The council further warned that misleading information is often spread by individuals aiming to damage its reputation and destabilise the examination process.

To avoid falling for false claims, WAEC urged students, parents, and the general public to rely only on official communication channels. These include its verified social media accounts and recognised press outlets.
All official statements, WAEC noted, are signed and distributed by its Public Affairs Department, representing the office of the Head of National Office.
WAEC reassured candidates that their efforts during the examination are safe and that the results will be accessible soon.
