WAEC Apologizes To Parents For 2025 English Exam Delay
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has issued an apology for the delayed commencement of the English Language Paper 2 during the ongoing 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
The paper, originally scheduled for earlier in the day, was eventually written on Wednesday evening, drawing concern from candidates and schools across the country.
In a statement issued by Moyosola Adesina, Acting Head of Public Affairs, WAEC attributed the delay to tightened security measures aimed at preventing question paper leaks.
The council acknowledged that the disruption affected students, parents, and teachers and expressed regret over the inconvenience. WAEC said it successfully secured the integrity of the exam but admitted that the process affected the smooth and timely administration of the paper.
