U.S. President Donald Trump has announced plans to posthumously award conservative activist Charlie Kirk the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor. The announcement follows Kirk’s tragic death after he was fatally shot while speaking at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah.

Trump made the declaration during a 9/11 remembrance ceremony at the Pentagon, describing Kirk as “a giant of his generation, a champion of liberty, and an inspiration to millions.” The former president said the award would recognize Kirk’s enduring impact on American politics and youth engagement.
