“The purpose of the award is to stir up other youths in the church to perform at their best and discourage laziness,” he said. “We are concerned not only about their spiritual growth but also their academic progress.”
He prayed for the recipients and encouraged them to remain steadfast in both faith and learning.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Favour Amakor, the Regional Youth and DLSO Coordinator, noted that the award scheme began in 2023 with a minimum qualification score of 250, which will rise to 280 in 2026.
“We have observed steady improvement in the performance of our youths since the program began,” he said. “From one awardee in 2023 to three in both 2024 and 2025, the results have been remarkable.”
The top scorer, Faith Emmanuel, who is currently studying Criminology and Security Studies at a private university in Minna, was represented by her father, Mr. Emmanuel Bassey.
Deborah Emmanuel, the first runner-up, expressed gratitude to the church, saying she would invest part of her prize in learning a new skill.
