Tim Godfrey Sparks Debate with Oxlade Collaboration

Gospel artist Tim Godfrey has stirred conversation within the gospel and Afrobeats communities with the release of his latest single Infinity featuring Nigerian Afrobeats singer Oxlade.

The track is a genre bending blend of gospel themes and Afrobeats rhythm merging Godfrey’s spiritual fervor with Oxlade’s signature smooth vocals. The result is a fresh take on gospel music that is both vibrant and experimental.

Announcing the release on his Instagram page Tim Godfrey shared a snippet of the music video directed by Ella Raaye and encouraged fans to stream the new song. In his caption he wrote

“With God nothing is impossible. My God is capable. Call am He’s reachable… INFINITY X Oxlade OUT NOW RUN IT UP.”

While the song has generated significant buzz on social media it has also sparked mixed reactions from fans and members of the Christian community. Some have applauded the bold collaboration for pushing creative boundaries while others have voiced concerns over whether the partnership aligns with the spiritual depth expected of gospel music.

One critic questioned the decision to feature Oxlade suggesting that other gospel artists like Moses Bliss could have delivered a more spiritually grounded performance

“There is nothing Oxlade did here that Moses Bliss or others would not execute even better. And do not tell me it is about audience reach Moses Bliss has as much audience. This feels like trying to use controversy to push a career”
“Gospel music is spiritual. The inspiration should come from God, and the artists are ministers. Songs should be ministrations. You cannot hear God if you are not grounded in His Word.”

Another fan expressed skepticism about Godfrey’s intentions stating

“You all still see this one as a gospel minister A person disguising under gospel to run his business. So, you want to tell me you were led by the Holy Spirit on this one too”

However not all responses were critical. In a more measured take one fan urged others not to rush to judgment

“Let us not judge in a case like this. You were not there when God told him to do this collab. If God approved, it who are you to say no and if God did not may we all learn to prioritize doing God’s will.”

The conversation around Infinity highlights ongoing debates about the evolving landscape of gospel music artistic expression and the role of personal conviction in ministry.

Despite differing opinions one thing remains clear Tim Godfrey’s Infinity has successfully sparked a wider conversation about the boundaries and possibilities of gospel music in contemporary culture.
