“They Want Me Dead”: Pastor Dachomo Raises Alarm After Plea to Protect Christians

A Nigerian pastor has issued a desperate warning, saying his life is now in danger after publicly condemning ongoing attacks on Christian communities in Plateau State.

Pastor Ezekiel Dachomo, the regional chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) in Barkin Ladi, said on October 24 that he has received direct threats from Islamist militants following his repeated calls for authorities to protect Christians. According to him, the threats intensified shortly after he released an October 15 video documenting a mass grave where 12 church members were buried after a deadly assault on the villages of Rachas and Rawuru, allegedly carried out by suspected Fulani herdsmen.

In the video, Dachomo accused the Nigerian government of downplaying what he described as a systematic campaign of violence against Christians. He insisted that the killings, which have persisted for years, constitute “a genocide” that the international community must urgently address.

Global persecution watchdog Open Doors reinforces the gravity of the situation. In its 2025 World Watch List, Nigeria ranked No. 7 among the most dangerous countries for Christians and accounted for roughly 3,100 faith-related killings representing nearly 69% of all documented Christian deaths worldwide during the reporting period.

Dachomo is now appealing for global advocacy, saying his community remains vulnerable and increasingly fearful. He urges both national and international actors to intervene, warning that without decisive action, the violence will continue unchecked.

As attacks escalate across Plateau and other northern regions, Dachomo’s plea underscores the growing sense of desperation among Christian communities who feel abandoned, unheard, and exposed to relentless brutality.
