TOPIC:
WHEN GOD SEEMS TO BE LATE (II)

MEMORISE

So, when He heard that he was sick. He stayed two more days in the place where He was (John 11:6).

READ:
John 11:11-43

EXPOSITION:

In the story of Jesus when Lazarus got sick, Jesus delayed his journey by two days showing that God’s timing and responses to our prayers are entirely up to Him. This delay is evident from the message Jesus received when Lazarus fell ill ( 3), yet he waited 2 extra days before starting his journey. This wasn’t just for the disciples (v 15), but also for Martha, who had lost hope and thought Jesus meant that the resurrection would happen on the last day. She interrupted when Jesus asked them to roll away the stone:

I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day (vv. 24; cf. 39).

The story highlights the importance of waiting for God’s response to our prayers, as there are 3 responses YES, NO, and WAIT. When God is not responding to our prayers, it may mean that we should WAIT. However, when God seems to be late, it may mean that He has a bigger plan for us (Jer. 29:11). God is always on time, never late, or behind schedule. If you have prayed and not received an answer, trust that He has a better plan for you.

L M & Ref

1. Where He lead me I will go,
For I have leaned to trust Him so,
And I remember ’twas for me,
That he was slain on Calvary.
Jesus shall lead me night and day
Jesus shall lead me all the way
He is the truest Friend to me,
For I remember Calvary.

2. O I delight His command,
Love to be led y His dear hand.
His divine will is sweet to me
Hallowed by blood-stained Calvary.

3. Onward I go, nor doubt nor fear,
Happy with Christ my savior near,
Trusting that I someday shall see
Jesus my friend on Calvary.

Amen.
